Disclosure Statement
Recently the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the United States passed legislation targeting bloggers (like me) for any false claims or failure to disclose compensation, free gifts etc. Actually because I’m in Canada (FTC has no jurisdiction in Canada), this legislation doesn’t apply to me, but I thought I’d “comply” anyway.
First and foremost I love dogs. I love my dogs, they’re my two best friends and they’re health and well being is of the utmost importance to me as is the case with most of you. Because they’re only on this planet for a brief time it’s my responsibility to provide for them the happiest, healthiest life that I can.
One way I can accomplish this is to spend as much time with them as possible, and the best way I can think of to do that is to be at home with them. This is where blogging comes in. My ultimate goal is to transform DoggyBytes into a full-time blogging job that will allow me to stay home with Sweety and Zeus and at the same time provide for my dogs.
Here is a list of how I intend to earn a living from my blog:
-
In the navigation menu at the top of my blog there are some menu items. I’d like to point out two in particular, the one called T-Shirt Shop and the one called Books & DVDs. When somebody (maybe you), clicks on either of those links and makes a purchase, I make a few cents. Believe me it’s only cents at this point.
-
In the left hand column of my blog there are some ad spots, which in exchange for a fee, I place advertiser ads.
-
Peppered throughout my posts are affiliate links. These links generally point to products or e-books that when purchased, I make a few cents or dollars depending on the product. I only include links to products that I believe in and/or have personally tried.
-
If I review a product of yours on my blog, understand the product will be sent to me free of charge including shipping, and reviews may be positive or negative but will always honest. If you would like to submit a product for review, please contact me via my contact page.
-
Any product endorsements or otherwise should be considered paid endorsements, however I do like to help out my friends when I can, so this may not be the case for all endorsements.
-
At some point, I may consider making money from sponsored tweets on Twitter, but at this point I have not done so.
Hopefully my disclosure statement has done a good job of explaining how and why I plan to make a living blogging about dogs. If you have any questions, please contact me.
