The most read post on Doggy Bytes this week was 9 Low Cost Foods You Can Buy to Start Your Dog on a Raw Diet which I find encouraging because maybe that means more people are interested in feeding their dogs a raw meat and bones diet but have been holding off because of their perceived view that feeding a raw diet is prohibitively expensive. If you haven’t read the post, there’s no time like the present.
I also wrote about supplements your dog doesn’t need and a new “fresh dog food” that I noticed this week in the grocery store that I shop at.

In last week’s Doggy Bytes of the Week, I wrote about a company called BlanketID, a company that helps owners of lost pets find their pets quickly through a unique combination of a tag that you buy and then register on the BlanketID website.
Yesterday I received tags for Sweety and Zeus, thanks Cate!
. Not only does BlanketID provide a really cool and innovative service to help reunite lost dogs with their owners, I was also very impressed with the packaging of the tags, which come with complete instructions on how to register your dog’s tags. This company has put a lot of thought into their service, which is pretty cool. Check them out at http://blanketid.com.
Major Wood!
Major Wood is not the name of a high ranking military official, but refers to a serious doggy erection. Stiffy, rocket, boner, tally whacker, thingamabob or bazooka , whatever your preferred terminology for a doggy erection is (feel free to leave yours in the comments), a prolonged erection can be a serious medical issue for a dog, as Rebecca over at The Philly Dog found out with her Yorkie Dash. Apparently it’s a good idea to have some KY Jelly on hand in such cases. :/
Know When to Fold ‘Em
Taking a page from the “Gambler”, Kenny Rogers, dog trainer Eric Goebelbecker offers some advice suggesting that when training for a specific behaviour, to quit while you’re ahead. He says that “dogs get bored and distracted just like we do”, and so after a “breakthrough”, it’s a good idea to take a break, or have a nap. Read more here.
Rapport, Trust and Confidence
Dog and exotic animal trainer Peta Clarke guest posted over at DogLoversDigest.com this week. In her post, Peta talks about how to build rapport, trust and confidence with your dog, and about how giving your dog more power over their environment will go a long way to achieving those things. It’s a long read, but a good read and I highly recommend heading over to DogLoversDigest to read Peta’s post.
Thanks for stopping by, see ya next week!
