Over the next 5 days I’ll be writing a series of posts (one per day), on the topic of raw feeding for your dog.
This is a topic that I’m very passionate about! I’m of the opinion that when we decide to take on the responsibility and the privilege, of caring for an animal, it is our duty to ensure that we provide them with the best nutrition that we can.
What we choose to feed our dogs should not be based on misinformation and propaganda spewed by pet food companies and the majority of veterinarians. Nor should we feed them what is convenient for us; rather, we should feed them based on common sense and what their nutritional requirements are as carnivores. I’ve been feeding Sweety a raw diet since 2004, she’ll be 15 in July. Zeus has been eating raw since the third day after I brought him home from the shelter in September. I walk the walk.
Dogs for many of us are like our children – we wouldn’t feed our children McDonald’s every day of their lives would we?!
The topics I’ll be covering this week are:
- What a canine carnivore is and what they were designed to eat.
- What commercial pet food (junk food) is doing to our pets.
- Raw food/bones feeding options.
- Switching your dog to a raw food/bones diet.
- The cost of feeding raw versus kibble (monetary and otherwise).
