“We are all sinners when it comes to animals, and we can all do better” - Wayne Pacelle president & CEO of the Humane Society of the United States. This quote from the San Fransisco Chronicle written by Mr. Pacelle yesterday.
Is that right Wayne?
I agree that yes, when it comes to the humane protection, treatment and care of animals, “we can all do better”, but I’m really not too crazy about Mr.Pacelle suggesting that I’m a “sinner” (although I’m not religious), and therefore somehow “like” convicted felon (Michael Vick), a privileged man who chose to electrocute, hang, shoot, drown and strangle dozens of dogs for his own sadistic pleasure. So, for the CEO of the Humane Society of the United States to imply that me, or any other compassionate, animal loving human being is guilty of the things that Michael Vick did, well that just pisses me off!
Generally speaking, murders and rapists don’t become champions against the evil deeds they’ve committed, yet Mr.Pacelle has appointed Michael Vick convicted felon, financier and active participant in the brutal treatment of dozens of dogs, as his top anti-dog fighting spokesperson. Is there anybody besides Mr.Pacelle that actually believes that Michael Vick, could possibly be repentant enough and sincere enough to effectively represent and promote the anti-dog fighting cause?
I prefer the stance of the Humane Society of Canada – NFL player, Michael Vick, has not, and will never be a spokesman for our organization.
