Tonight it’s Halloween. No costume for me tonight, I got to wear mine last Monday. I was dressed as a hospital patient complete with the gown with my butt sticking out, the little hospital booties, I.V. and catheter, the whole get up. Ok so that wasn’t a costume, I was actually a hospital patient.
In 2006 I was diagnosed with a heart condition affecting the right atrium of the heart called Atrial Flutter, and took two Catheter Ablation procedures to fix. Then in the summer of 2007, I was diagnosed with Atrial Fibrillation, (third time lucky) similar to Atrial Flutter except AFib affects the left atrium of the heart. This past Monday I was ablated once more and I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this is the last time I’ll be “inconvenienced” with a heart arrhythmia.
The real stress for me came last Sunday, the night before my surgery, and not because of my surgery. “Sweety” walked into the living room and I noticed that she had a big patch of blood on her neck between her head and shoulder.
Uber worried, I took a look and it appeared to me that she had probably scratched open a wart that she’d had for several years. According to the veterinarian, it was actually a sebaceous cyst that had ruptured. On top of that, “Sweety’s” left nostril was super swollen and the tissue looked like it was dying. Most likely she’d been stung by a bee, or maybe bitten by a spider in her sleep. She’s on a 14 day course of antibiotics now and is doing well.
Thank dog that week is over!
